🤿 Tips for spotting creatures underwater

  • Look inside the holesmoray eels, octopus and lobster spend the day hidden. Use your dive light without pointing it straight into the animal's eye.
  • Look up now and thenturtles, rays and schools pass overhead and we miss them because we only look at the bottom.
  • Watch out for what looks like a rockfrogfish and scorpionfish are masters of camouflage. Before you rest your hand, look twice.
  • Seahorses cling to brancheslook for them on sea fans, algae and ropes. They are small and stay still.
  • Don't touch, don't chaseif you approach slowly and at an angle, the animal won't flee. Chasing only makes it disappear.
  • Make a mental note of the placeif you saw a seahorse or octopus, memorize the landmark. Tell the instructor so the next buddy pair can see it.
